November 19, 2014 – Mickey Mouse was not on the ballot this month, but he came in first among individual invalid write-in candidates in Orange County, Florida. The biggest such vote-getter was a catch-all category that included Nobody, None of the Above, and Anyone Else, collectively receiving 565 votes. Mickey got 273 all by himself.
Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles posted the list today on the county’s website.
The school board had the most diverse group of candidates. Thirteen voters wanted to see Batman win a seat, and when you add the two votes Bruce Wayne received, he really got 15, three more than Barack Obama. This close to Christmas, Santa came in surprisingly far behind with only seven votes. Collective Consciousness, Can’t Even Choose the Lesser Evil, and Stick It each got one vote.
