February 4, 2015 – Novelist Harper Lee, 88, will be publishing her second novel after the long-lost manuscript from the 1950s was discovered last year. “Go Set a Watchman” was written before “To Kill a Mockingbird.” It features Scout Finch as an adult. The manuscript was set aside when Lee’s editor preferred the flashback sequences and urged the novice author to write a different novel focusing on the earlier period. The existence of the manuscript for “Go Set a Watchman” was not known until Lee’s lawyer found it. The initial print run will be two million copies.
“To Kill a Mockingbird” won the Pulitzer Prize in 1960 and was made into a movie in 1962.
