March 9, 2015 – The two longest unobstructed vertical cave drops in the continental United States are found on opposite sides of the same cave, Ellison’s Cave, in northern Georgia. The first pit, dubbed “Fantastic,” drops 586 feet, and the second, dubbed “Incredible,” drops 440 feet. Three climbers, Amy Hinkle, Shane Streetman, and Elliot Hellman, explored Fantastic last month and captured amazing photographs of their adventure.
